Music Therapist

Music TherapyMusic therapy is a clinical intervention, rooted in psychology, which uses music as a tool to enable positive change and development. It uses improvised and structured musical activities, in both assessment and long term therapy contexts, to work towards aims agreed at referral.

These aims cover physical and social development; attachment and trauma; emotional literacy, expression and regulation; social interaction; confidence; communication, and speech and language; creativity and play; and more.

Music Therapy at Nexus is delivered by our HCPC registered Music Therapist, Rachel Weber. Rachel works across the school delivering individual sessions, classroom workshops and collaborating in school creative projects. Rachel is passionate about bringing the power and joy of music, in all its many forms, to people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and stages of ability, and that music is the greatest gift a person can get! Rachel uses a range of diverse and accessible instruments as well as music tech, to help young people unlock their creative potential, discover their strengths and gain personal tools for day to day living.

Music therapy interventions are treated with confidentiality and safeguarding protocols as part of the standard of conduct and ethics as outlined by the HCPC.

As well as being registered with the HCPC, Rachel is a member of the BAMT and ICO.
