Maths
“Arithmetic is being able to count up to twenty without taking off your shoes.” ~ Mickey Mouse
“Millions saw the apple fall, but Newton asked why.” ~ Bernard Baruch
“The essence of mathematics is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple.” ~ Stan Gudder
“To explain all nature is too difficult a task for any one man or even for any one age. `Tis much better to do a little with certainty, and leave the rest for others that come after you, than to explain all things.” ~ Isaac Newton
Maths at Nexus focuses on helping every child develop practical, meaningful mathematical skills they can use in everyday life. Learning is personalised so that each student works at a level that suits their needs, whether that’s early number awareness, problem-solving, or functional skills like telling time, using money, and measuring. Teachers use hands-on activities, real-life scenarios, and supportive resources to build confidence and understanding. The aim is to make maths engaging, achievable, and relevant, so every child can experience success and develop skills that support independence.
