Online Safety

Online Safety at Nexus School

Our pupils are growing up in a world where technology plays a significant role in everyday life. At Nexus School, we believe that technology can be a powerful and positive tool for learning, creativity and connection when used safely and responsibly.

Keeping children safe is at the heart of our Nexus values. In line with our Safeguarding and Online Safety policies, we are committed to supporting pupils to develop the skills, confidence and understanding they need to navigate the online world safely.

Across the school, we support pupils to:

  • understand what cyberbullying is, recognise how it can affect others, and know how to get help if they are worried or upset
  • communicate online with care and respect, recognising that people may not always be who they say they are
  • make safe and sensible choices about what personal information they share
  • talk openly to a trusted adult if something they see or experience online does not feel right
  • develop curiosity and critical thinking by questioning whether online information is reliable or accurate
  • search for information responsibly and use the internet in a safe and appropriate way

We recognise that much of children’s internet use happens at home, outside of the school’s filtering and monitoring systems. Working in partnership with parents and carers is a key part of our approach, and we encourage open conversations at home to help reinforce safe online behaviours.

Below you will find a range of trusted websites, guidance and resources to support you in discussing online safety with your child. At the bottom of this page, there are also age-appropriate resources that pupils can access independently to help them learn more about staying safe online.

If you have any concerns about online safety or would like further advice or support, please do not hesitate to contact the school. We are always here to help.
