Post-16 Visit to The Big Cat Sanctuary
Last week, some of our Post-16 students had the exciting opportunity to visit The Big Cat Sanctuary in Smarden, Kent. It was a memorable and educational experience that gave us a deeper understanding of wildlife conservation.
The day began with an informative 90-minute talk, where we learned about the important work the sanctuary does. We discovered that the sanctuary is home to around 40 cats from approximately 14 different species. These include a wide range of incredible animals, from large predators like lions and tigers to smaller endangered wild cats. Many of these animals are part of international breeding and rescue programmes, helping to protect species that are at risk of extinction.
Throughout the visit, we gained insight into how the sanctuary cares for the animals and works to raise awareness about conservation. It was fascinating to learn about the different species, their behaviours, and the challenges they face in the wild.
Seeing the cats up close was an unforgettable experience. It helped us to truly appreciate their beauty and the importance of protecting their natural habitats. The visit also made us more aware of how organisations like this play a vital role in preserving wildlife for future generations.
Overall, it was a highly engaging and inspiring trip. We all came away having learned something new and with a greater respect for these amazing animals and the work done to protect them.
