Nexus offers a counselling service which is accessible to all pupils. The counselling is provided by Cassie Carson.

Cassie has been working with the pupils at Nexus since February 2014 and is held in high regard by the pupils who she has worked with. Cassie holds an advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling, and holds a Masters degree in child and adolescent counselling and psychotherapy. Both shorter term counselling and longer term psychotherapy are offered depending on the needs of the individual child

Counselling Service available to pupils at Nexus:

Counselling offers children a safe and confidential space to explore what might be troubling them. It offers them an understanding, a feeling of being listened to, valued and accepted in a non-judgemental way. I work alongside my clients to enable them to express what is going on for them. Through both talking therapy and creative therapy (using drawing, painting, creating, play and sand tray work), I facilitate clients to express their feelings and gain a better understanding of their feelings, thoughts and behaviour.

There is a broad range of issues I help clients with including (but not limited to): bereavement, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, self-harm, attachment, bullying…. I work collaboratively with parents and teachers in order to provide the best support possible for the child.

If you feel your child would benefit from counselling please speak to their class teacher who will discuss the referral process with you.
