STLS COVID-19 Response

Dear Head Teachers and SENCo’s
Due to the current increase in positive cases of Covid-19 in our schools and settings, it has been decided that the Tonbridge and Malling district and West Area STLS teams will only be doing visits to schools and settings where it is absolutely essential. This will include new referrals or where there is an urgent need for support.
This decision has been taken to safeguard both our schools, settings and our teams. We will, however, continue to support you virtually, as we have done throughout the pandemic. In instances where our team will be doing visits, the Specialist Teacher involved will contact you prior to the visit to find out how and if this visit will take place and detail the steps that will be taken to safeguard everyone involved. Please can I ask that any updated Risk Assessments be sent through to the STLS office.
Can we ask that in the future, should you have a positive case in your school or setting where we have visited or are due to visit, that you inform us, including information about when that person first presented with symptoms. The NHS and government guidance states that if someone we have come in contact within a school or setting has had a positive test, then we would need to isolate if we were in contact with them 48 hours prior to them developing symptoms. Clearly, that time period before symptoms present is an infectious time so it is important that we are being cautious and have this information.
Thank you again for your support during these challenging and ever-changing times. We will review our working practices on the 2nd of December and update you with any changes.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or queries,
District Lead for Tonbridge and Malling STLS
